Turkey has a high solar energy potential thanks to its geographical location. According to the Turkey Solar Energy Potential Atlas (GEPA) prepared by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the country's average annual sunshine duration is calculated as 2,741 hours and the average annual total radiation value is determined as 1,527.46 kWh/m². These data show that Turkey can use solar energy efficiently and that using this resource for energy production on a larger scale will provide economic and environmental benefits. In particular, the widespread use of solar energy systems both reduces energy costs and supports environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions.

Solar Energy Systems: Environmental Benefits

Solar energy plays a critical role in reducing Turkey’s carbon emissions. Solar energy projects reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing fossil fuel use, thus making a significant contribution to combating climate change. For example, the Solar Power Plant in Elazığ saves approximately $100 million worth of natural gas imports per gigawatt of production, contributing to both the environment and the economy. At the same time, such projects also provide benefits for public health by improving local air quality. Source: World Bank Blogs Carbon Neutral Britain

In Turkey’s energy transformation strategy, investing more in renewable energy will not only reduce carbon emissions but also increase energy security. The country’s reliance on fossil fuel imports for most of its energy creates economic fragility. In this context, steps taken to increase Turkey's solar energy capacity are also attracting local and foreign investors. Incentives and regulations for renewable energy projects allow for an increase in solar energy investments. In particular, large-scale solar energy plants in different regions of Turkey contribute to economic development and create job opportunities. In this way, growth in the renewable energy sector plays a critical role in the future of Turkey's energy policies.

In addition, the transition to solar energy is becoming more attractive for individual consumers. Small-scale solar panels installed in homes and workplaces reduce electricity costs and increase energy independence for users. This contributes to a more stable structure in energy supply, while expanding consumers' capacity to produce their own energy and enabling them to take a step towards a sustainable future.

Solar Energy Systems: Economic Benefits

The economic benefits of solar energy systems are evident in a wide range in Turkey. First, these systems directly reduce energy costs. Due to Turkey’s increasing energy needs and continued dependence on energy imports, investing in local resources such as solar energy provides economic stability in the long term. In particular, the spread of rooftop solar energy systems can reduce household energy costs and reduce the need for government energy subsidies. Studies show that an annual saving of $3.6 billion in energy subsidies can be achieved by switching homes to solar energy in Turkey.  Source: Ember

In addition, solar energy investments create local employment and enable the development of innovative business models in the energy sector. The spread of solar energy in Turkey will create new business opportunities, especially in the construction sector and energy management. Turkey can make significant gains both environmentally and economically by using its high solar energy potential more effectively. Solar energy investments are a powerful tool for reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy security and ensuring economic stability. The central role of solar energy in the country's energy strategy will carry Turkey to a more sustainable future in both the short and long term.

The 700kWp solar power plant project, which was installed on the roof of the production facility of TARİŞ Olive and Olive Oil Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union in Atatürk OSB Çiğli/İZMİR, has been completed. The installation of the system and the electrical connections took approximately 2 months. The tests of the plant were carried out and the preliminary acceptance was carried out.

Aerial shots of Tesco Kipa, Bosch, Sabanci University, Tire OSB Photovoltaic Solar Systems, which were installed by Enisolar, were completed.

4-year-old Minik Gezgin, Tibet Çınar Sarıhan and his family returned to Turkey after their last bicycle trip to the North Pole. In addition to their many experiences, the Sarıhan family also photographs examples of clean energy in the places they visit. We sponsored the “Mini Gezgin” book of activists who travel around the world with the motto “Save the World, Ride a Bike” and made a small contribution to the Sarıhan family’s adventures.
